A Diary of a Chik

So I made a huge decision by resigning from one of my jobs! This has obviously sent shock waves across the family questioning my sanity so let me tell you why…

You have ONE life. In that one life you spend years in school. School turns into college. College turns into uni/work. Either way, you eventually end up working 5 days a week in a job you complain about all the time waiting for the weekend which then flies by.

You get out what you put in and I couldn’t support that saying more! My problem however, is that I’ll spend 50-80 hours a week working really hard (normally for someone else) and making myself ill because I’m always trying to push myself to achieve more. Once I get ill though, I can’t do anything and what’s the point in that?!

This summer, I want to work on my business…

You Love My Flaws, They make me Beautiful

“Flaws”

Sometimes I talk a little too much
Don’t listen enough
Sometimes it’s way too easy for me to beat myself up
Sometimes I hate the way I look when I look in the mirror
One look from you I know

My flaws
You love, you love my flaws
Think they make me beautiful
You don’t see them as flaws at all
That’s why
That’s why, that’s why I love you
Cause you are, you are the one who
The one who loves my flaws

Sometimes I get a little unsure
A lot insecure
Sometimes I know I might say some words
That might cause some hurt
Sometimes I get in my own way
I’m way too much to put up with
But you put up with it all

My flaws
You love, you love my flaws
Think they make me beautiful
You don’t see them as flaws at all
That’s why
That’s why, that’s why I love you
Cause you are, you are the one who
The one who loves my flaws

You think I’m everything when I think I’m nothing
When I hate myself you still love me
Love me and

My flaws
You love, you love my flaws
Think they make me beautiful
You don’t see them as flaws at all

Oh God
You love, you love my flaws
Think they make me beautiful
You don’t see them as flaws at all
That’s why
That’s why, that’s why I love you
Cause I love, I love the one who
The one who loves my flaws

My flaws
You love, you love my flaws

The Faith I walk and live by

Not because I am perfect but because He is perfect for me

Its not because I love Him but because He first loved me

He first chose me,

Loved me

Knitted me in my mother’s womb

and continues to bless me each and every day

Even though I continue to fail Him day by day

and its not because of who I am but because of who He is

Forgiveness

I have to admit that even with all that I know is right and what the Bible says. Forgiveness was one of the hardest concepts for me to grasp.

But we are of a sinful nature naturally, not because of God’s design but because of the Fall in Eden. Therefore this concept seems a lot more difficult for each one of us. I had a really hard time trying to grasp this because i suppose i didn’t read and understand the true sacrifice Jesus gave on the cross. God’s forgiveness of my sins lead to my redemption.

We spend a lot of time holding grudges, fighting, hating each other and what i realized and learnt fairly quickly is that these feuds can be found between friends which is fair enough, but the worst of them come from families. The devil has infiltrated our homes and our families and is attacking us from within starting with our families. And we let him because don’t cling to the cross daily, enough for God to heal us and those around us. It took me a long time to understand that forgiveness is not about the other person but it reflects your relationship with the God you claim to serve. God loves and forgives us on a daily basis if not hourly because we are constantly failing Him but the Word of God days, ‘If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.’ – 1 John 1:9. Forgiving someone else for their wrong is not for their benefit, it is for yours. Someone once told me that it is the same as drinking poison and expect the other person to die. By holding grudges you are carrying an unnecessary weight that God is constantly telling you to give up and let Him take care of it.The closer we come to Christ the more you realize how sinful you are as a person. I know my faults and I pray that God continues to guide me and show me each one of my mistakes that i may overlook for any reasons in order for me to correct them. And i also pray to forgive as much as i have been forgiven.

Charity begins at home

After having a really amazing heart to heart with a close friend, we both realised that people around us whether intentionally or unintentionally have killed or scarred a lot of thing within us from a young age. some of these comments or actions we have carried them into adulthood. These things stemming from our past are as easy and hurtful as, ‘ You have gained some weight, you are still young why don’t you loose it’. Really people? Is this the Christian way? Why would you say these things to children? Many people hide behind saying such as ‘ tough love is the best love’. I’m sorry but in what scripture does it say this exactly?Ephesians 4:29 ESV Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

We need to be careful about what we are exposing the younger generation too. Hatred, being mean, racism and bullying are all learned behaviours. These words are not kind, the motive behind them is not to build but to destroy so whose team are you playing on? I spoke about it briefly in one of my posts about being fearfully and wonderfully made.

Romans 8:1-39 ESV

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. …

This scripture is the scripture that set me free about a lot of insecurities and doubts I had about myself. I struggled to see myself as being someone who can love and be loved. Yes I am small, yes I am petite and yes above all I talk a lot….annnddd? What you are telling me are facts, but for some reason people make you feel bad about who you are and what you look like as if you created yourself. My maker made me without mistake, he planned me and loves me as I am,

Psalm 139:13-14  For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

Children are the purest and most innocent form we can be in our humans lives. I don’t understand why you would want to take away their joy just because you’ve had it tough. Adult or not, hurting or not, parent or not, we all have a role to play to teach the young ones how to love themselves the way God created them so they are able to love others and accept them as. With words we destroy more than we build, even in the church, its true we have brought many to the church through the message but many are leaving just as quickly because of the things we say and do. We need to reflect, build each other up and LOVE the way Christ loves us. The building that you go to is not the church, but the people inside it are what make the church. By being mean spirited we are driving people away to find and seek love in the wrong places, this also includes the youth. Our youth are driven away from churches because there are no role models, people to help or relate to issues they feel they are dealing with alone, my message is BE THAT PERSON to help and lend a hand. image
